PTA
Aims
The Parent Teacher Association has as its three main aims:
- to provide opportunities for parents to take an active part in the life of the school
- to promote close co-operation between parents and teachers for the general welfare of the student.
- to assist in providing additional facilities and extra-curricular activities for the school.
Using our representation on the School Council and the Joint Council of (ESF) PTAs we can ensure that the the views of STCPTA parents are brought to the attention of these organisations.

Committee Meetings
The PTA committee meets on a regular (mainly monthly) basis to discuss various issues of parental interest. Regular reporting items include: Principal's report, PTA accounts, school buses, bookshop, canteen and uniform. The PTA meetings provide a channel whereby parents can express opinions and raise concerns. Coordinator
Katherine Liu is our PTA co-ordinator at the school PTA office. The PTA office is located on the Ground Floor. Katherine organises the School Buses . She is also responsible for the PTA finance and accounts. She can be reaached at: pta@shatincollege.edu.hk.
Lost Property
Lost property is kept at the PTA office. There are generally unclaimed uniforms, spectacles, watches, pencil cases and items of jewellery accumulated in lost property over the term. If your child has lost any items, please remind them to check with the PTA office. Please ensure all items of clothing and personal effects are named, as all named articles are returned directly to students.
Book Shop
The PTA Bookshop is run by a group of volunteer parents. It is located next to the PTA office.
Opening hours: 1.15 - 2.00pm every school day.
We stock a range of books (fiction & non-fiction) and stationery, for gifts or emergencies. There are also a small selection of second-hand text books and study guides available.
We also sell secondhand school uniform for both Shatin College and Shatin Junior students. The price ranges from 70 to 90% off from those from the uniform store.
We are a voluntary service and constantly on the lookout for more helpers. If you would like to be part of this service please contact the PTA Bookshop co-ordinator.
Cafeteria
The PTA oversees the running of the school canteen which provides snacks, drinks and lunches. This includes reviewing pricing, quality and nutritional content of the food services.

Fundraising
The school enjoys excellent support from the PTA, which organises our major annual fund-raising event, the School Fair, and various social or educational events throughout the school year. Parents are also warmly invited to join our Fair Committee and to help with our fund-raising activities.
Funded Projects
The PTA donates funds to a variety of projects including:
Refurbishment of the school hall and library
Octopus Cards for student registration and purchases
IT equipment for Music Department
Scholarships
The PTA awards three scholarships annually of $5000 each to Year 11 students for academic achievement, academic improvement and overall contribution to the College.
Fees and Application Forms
PTA fees- to cover administration costs for all the above, there is an annual family charge, which is $200 for the 2007-2008 year. Cheques should be made payable to "Sha Tin College PTA". Click here to download an application form.
