Student Leadership Opportunities

Leadership opportunities in Senior School

The Senior School offers opportunities to exercise leadership and responsibility in a variety of ways. Senior School students are encouraged to embrace the ethos of CAS and work collaboratively to organise and run events and activities for other students. Student Leaders play a vital role in assisting staff to engender House spirit amongst students and encourage participation in whole-school and community-based activities.

Heads of House, Creativity, Action, Service and Environmental Action co-ordinate and organise social, sporting and fundraising events and other activities for younger students. There are eight Student Leaders in each house (one Head of House, two Heads of Action, two Heads of Service, two Heads of Creativity and one Head of Environmental Action).

Student leaders have a degree of autonomy in their role and are encouraged to introduce new ideas and work collaboratively to bring them to fruition. Individuals who can demonstrate maturity, enthusiasm and a commitment to the aims of the College are invited to apply to be Student Leaders. Staff interview suitable candidates and those selected will be provided with appropriate training.

Student Leaders hold office from November of Year 12 until November of Year 13. They are directly responsible to the CAS Coordinator and Head of Senior School and liaise closely with Tutors, younger students and their peers.
