Applied Learning

We recognize that the IB Diploma or Certificate Programme is not suitable for all students. We plan
to start a pilot programme in August 2011 for students who prefer an applied, more practically
oriented style of learning. It is also suitable for students who have a very clear idea of their future
career and who want to specialise and focus on one subject area. The courses offered are career
orientated and are designed to allow students to follow an alternative pathway to university entry or
to employment.
The qualification gained will be based around the prestigious and internationally recognised BTEC
qualification provided by Edexcel.

International Diploma
We are also investigating the possibility of offering this new qualification from Edexcel for first teaching
in August 2011. It is equivalent to the IB Diploma but is based around the following programme:
• BTEC nationals certificate to 3 A levels
• An extended project
• A BTEC certificate in work-skills (involving a work placement)
• An AS level in Global Citizenship.
This is a highly prestigious programme and will be an excellent qualification for Higher Education.
