Aims and Objectives
The aims of the Technology and ICT Faculty at Sha Tin College are to:
- Provide a learning environment which prepares our students to participate in rapidly changing technological world.
- Encourage pupils to become autonomous, creative, innovative and independent learners and problem solvers both as individuals and members of a team.
- Encourage pupils to look for needs, wants and opportunities and respond to these through analysis, development of ideas, manufacture of products and systems, testing and evaluating in a range of different contexts.
- Encourage students to combine practical skills with an understanding of aesthetic, cultural, social and environmental issues, function, industrial practices and the impact of design and technological activity on global society and the environment.
- Encourage students to reflect on and evaluate present and past technological products, enabling them to become both discriminating and informed users and designers of future products.
- Develop in our pupils an understanding of, and the ability to organise, manage and work with materials, ingredients, tools, ICT, equipment and systems in a safe and competent manner.
- Establish an understanding of basic technological concepts and their application and to combine this with knowledge and concepts from all other subjects.
- Encourage and develop appropriate communication skills of a high quality including oral, graphical, modeling, ICT and written techniques.
