8th September 2009

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Re:  Closure of Sha Tin College due to ‘flu outbreak

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that we are closing Sha Tin College this afternoon, Tuesday 8th September at 3:20pm for seven days.  This action is due to the significant rising number of cases of ‘flu-like symptoms amongst our student body and we are following the advice of the Centre for Health Protection and the Education Bureau.  We firmly believe that this is in the best interests of the health and safety of all students, families and staff.  We want to make sure that everyone is free of all ‘flu-like symptoms and that those who have been ill have the chance for full recovery.

Students have been informed that school work will be sent to them electronically and that they can contact teachers via e-mail with any problems.  This means that learning will be as uninterrupted as possible.  All teacher e-mail addresses are in the back of the diary so students can communicate with individual staff.

Teachers and support staff will be in school, however, no students or visitors are permitted to come to school under any circumstances.

We anticipate re-opening on Wednesday 16th September, but advise everyone to check the school website for further updates.

We appreciate your co-operation and understanding in these unusual circumstances.

Yours sincerely,

John Nixon
Principal – Sha Tin College
